Creating your estate plan is a big step, and it can be overwhelming. That is why we designed our process to be broken down into more manageable steps. Within about 8 weeks, you can have a comprehensive estate plan that will protect your family against any eventuality, even the worst. You’ll be amazed at how easy and painless the entire planning process will be for your family.
What to Expect the Day of Your Family Wealth Planning Session
At Gravett & Gravett all new clients start the process with a Family Wealth Planning Session with our attorneys. Typically, this meeting is two hours in duration.
During those two hours, you will find out what would happen to your family if you died with your current (or no) plan in place. If there is a conflict between your current plan and what you would like to happen, and we all feel that our working relationship is a good fit, we can often design your new plan within the first meeting. You will work with us to design the plan that will give your family the greatest peace of mind.
Currently, we offer three levels of planning, and we will work with you to help you determine which planning level and fee are best for your family. Our fees start at $2,000 and are all-inclusive.
What Happens Next?
Sometimes, depending on the level of planning you choose and the complexity of your situation, a second planning session is required. Once your plan has been designed to your satisfaction, you will return to our office (approximately 4-6 weeks later) to sign your documents. Once the documents are signed, you and your family can rest assured that they will be protected in the event of your death or incapacity.
At this point, most other law firms call it a day. This is where Gravett & Gravett is very different. We see the signing of your estate planning documents as the beginning of our relationship with your family, not the end.
We know that if your plan is not properly updated over time, your documents become worth less than the paper they were written on. Laws change, your assets change, your family changes, and your estate plan will need to change as well. All of these changes must be accommodated. At Gravett & Gravett we make sure that happens by communicating with you on a regular basis, by reviewing your plan at least every three years (at no additional charge to you), and by keeping you informed so that you can make the best possible decisions for your family during your lifetime.
In addition, if you elect to participate in one of our Family Wealth VIP Membership programs, you will have an opportunity to review your plan on an annual basis, and we will provide your family with a number of other valuable services.
All our services are designed to provide you with the peace of mind of knowing we will be here for the people you love most in the event of your incapacity or death. We welcome your questions and suggestions, and we don’t charge you for phone calls, faxes, or e-mails. If you are looking for this personalized level of estate planning, and to have trusted advisors for life, please contact us to schedule a Family Wealth Planning Session.
